When I think about some of the best covers I've ever heard, MTV Unplugged comes to mind. Not the pop performances of today, but the old school performances of the '90s, like Nirvana's cover of Leadbelly's 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night'. One of the best cover songs ever!
My music taste is really varied, though. I love listening to psychedelic rock, or my favourite Australian female artists. Sometimes I like to indulge in a little bit of pop punk, pop-punk songs are some of the best karaoke songs. You may not believe me, but nothing gets a party going like cracking open an ice-cold Young Henrys and screaming old school Blink-182 lyrics like you're Tom DeLonge.
If I'm just wanting a bit of background music, I listen to more relaxing music, like a bit of meditation music for example. The binaural beats of this music aren't just beneficial for meditating, but I also find it to be really helpful as study music.
Whenever I find cool tracks on YouTube, I'll take the links from the Youtube music videos and put them into a Youtube to Mp3 converter to download them. If I find them on SoundCloud, you guessed it, I'll use a Soundcloud to MP3 converter. If I love a song enough, I'll track it down on Discogs and order the vinyl so I have it forever.
